The Controller-General of Prisons, Ja’afaru Ahmed, has approved the suspension of 10 officials of the service following the recent jail break in Kuje, Abuja.
According to a statement on Monday by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Prisons Service, DCP Francis Enobore, the suspension of the prisons officials was “sequel to the outcome of the preliminary investigation into the incident and in consonance with PSR 030406 (2008) Revised Version.”
It also said the officers were suspended from duty to allow unhindered trial process and that efforts to recapture the fleeing prisoners in collaboration with sister security agencies were ongoing, and security measures in prison formations nationwide have been tightened to prevent further occurrence.
He also called on members of the public to help with useful information that will assist in the recapture of the fugitives.

It would be recalled that on June 24 two fugitives, Solomon Amodu and Maxwell Ajukwu, standing trial for culpable homicide, escaped from Kuje Medium Security Prison.
